Following the report, Brea Olinda Unified School District and BOHS Administration immediately began working with Brea Police Department to investigate the threat and determined that the threat was not credible, however the investigation remains open and is ongoing.

UPDATE: Monday, September 16, 5:17 p.m.

Brea Olinda Unified School District in coordination with Brea Olinda High School Administration and Brea Police Department have concluded their investigation of the non-credible threat to BOHS.

BOHS Principal Joey Davis sent an email to families, parents and staff at 5:17 p.m. via ParentSquare with the following update:

Dear Brea Olinda Unified School District Staff and Community,

We would like to provide you with an important update regarding the ongoing investigation into the recent threat made against Brea Olinda High School. Please be assured that the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and community remain our top priority.

Today, several staff members and students were interviewed as part of the thorough investigation being conducted by District Office staff, School Administration, and the Brea Police Department.

For those who received an image of a post containing the threat and a student’s name, this student has been cleared of any involvement. The threat was deemed non-credible as a result of a confession by another student who misunderstood conversations on campus about current events.

As an added precaution, Brea PD was on-site today and will be present at the school tomorrow to provide additional support and ensure a safe and secure learning environment.

We understand that situations like these can cause concern, and we are grateful for the trust and cooperation shown by our community. The "See Something, Say Something" initiative is intended to support the community and encourage reporting suspicious activities. The Text-a-Tip line (401) 542-2287 is available for anonymous tips.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

BOHS will continue to be open for regular school operations on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.

Sincerley,

Joey Davis
