Brea Olinda Unified School District (BOUSD) on behalf of the Board of Education, will begin accepting applications for the 2024-25 student board member position on Monday, March 25, 2024. The application is open to current high school juniors who reside within the district boundaries, is enrolled in one of the two high schools within BOUSD, and are in good standing for the 2023-24 school year.
“Alongside our esteemed Board of Trustees, the student board member position is a great opportunity for one student to serve as a voice for all students in Brea Olinda Unified while helping to steer the district towards innovation and excellence,” said Superintendent Brinda Leon.
The student board member will be required to:
- Attend all BOUSD Board of Education meetings, which occur about twice per month on Thursday evenings at the City of Brea council chambers.
- Dedicate sufficient time to review board agenda materials in advance of meetings, which may include consultation with board staff and/or the superintendent
- Attend selected advisory group meetings, school visits, student meetings, workshops, and conferences, as needed, and
- Reserve time for handling other board-related business.
Completed applications for the student board member position must be received by 5 p.m. on April 12, 2024. The application is available online.
